While it is true that some managers have an informal interview where they just want to get to know the person, you never want to assume that. Research the company ahead of time and prepare some questions to ask the manager about the company. Always dress professionally and maintain eye contact.

Role play prior to the interview. Prepare to answer questions like, “Tell me about yourself”, “What are your strengths and weaknesses”, and “Why do you want this position?”

Writing a customer service resume does not have to be difficult, but it does need to be professional. Remember that a resume is your first introduction to a potential employer.

1) Use a bullet-point format for your resume. Managers look at resumes very quickly. This format allows them to see your skills easily.

2) Review your resume multiple times. Make sure there are absolutely no errors.

3) Keep it to a maximum of 2 pages, if your experience justifies it. If not, a 1 page resume is the standard.

4) Supply references upon request. Do not list them on your resume.

5) Use a chronological resume with your most recent employment first. Only use a “skills resume” if you’ve had many jobs in the past few years.

6) List your computer skills at the bottom of your resume separated by commas.
